Echoes of Aincrad Weapons — All Six Types Explained

Combat Foundation — No Magic, All Weapon Arts

Every offensive option in Echoes of Aincrad flows through physical weapons and their associated sword skills. Stamina powers light and heavy attacks; Skill Points fuel sword skills and weapon arts. There is no spellcasting branch — choosing a weapon type is the most important build decision in both the demo and full game.

Six weapon families ship at launch, each with a dedicated skill tree previewed in our All Sword Skills Showcase. You equip one primary type per character save. Switching weapons mid-demo is allowed in the training area before later missions lock recommendations, but Growth Points are wasted if you spread upgrades across multiple types.

One-Handed Sword and Sword-and-Shield

The one-handed sword balances reach, speed, and moderate stamina cost on heavies. It suits beginners learning dodge-and-punish rhythms against Centrigolem and Ilfang. Sword-and-shield pairs the same one-hand kit with a guard that reduces chip damage — the safest pick for Wrathful Shrewman when blindness disrupts dodge timing. Shield bash skills consume extra SP but stagger elites in Mission 4.

Both styles rank high on our Weapon Tier List for demo completion. Stat priority favors balanced Strength and Vitality; see Stats Priority for Growth Point allocation.

Two-Handed Sword and Halberd

Two-handed swords trade mobility for raw per-hit damage and wide swing arcs that cleave kobold adds during Ilfang. Heavies are slow — missing a swing leaves you vulnerable, so fight in open areas like Ayoth's central clearing. Halberds extend reach further with thrust and sweep mix-ups ideal for Dark Strider Wolf spacing.

These weapons demand higher stamina investment and benefit from EX-MODs that reduce heavy attack cost. Smithy upgrades matter more than for faster weapons because each landed hit carries more weight. Pair with EX-MOD Setups focused on stamina recovery.

Rapier and Dual Blades

Rapiers excel at single-target DPS with fast thrust chains and a parry-adjacent counter skill on perfect dodge. Violet Fencer elites telegraph thrusts — rapier players who circle correctly delete knights quickly but die fast to mis-timed blocks. Dual blades require constant aggression: dual SP skills chain into flurry finishers that melt cat-boar health if stamina never bottoms out.

Both weapons rank A-tier for skilled players but punish panic blocking. Recommended for Mission 1 and 2 speedruns, less forgiving on Wrathful Shrewman unless you carry extra Healing Crystals from the Consumables page.

Upgrading and Bonus Weapons

Demo weapons upgrade at the Town of Beginnings smithy using materials from Floor 1 hunts and cave chests. Each tier raises base attack and unlocks an EX-MOD slot until the demo cap. Pre-order customers receive Proto-Elucidator variants for all six types — details on the Pre-Order Pack page.

Weapon choice interacts with Iori's partner damage type in Free Mode; she scales independently but benefits when you stagger bosses for her follow-ups. Test all six in the demo training zone before committing Growth Points on the Growth Points guide path.

Pertanyaan Umum

What is the best weapon for demo beginners?

Sword-and-shield offers the highest forgiveness with guard and stable damage. One-handed sword without shield is a close second for simpler stamina management.

Can I use all six weapons on one save?

You can own and test multiple weapons, but you fight with one equipped type. Growth Points and smithy materials are most efficient when focused on a single weapon line.

Do weapons have elemental damage?

Floor 1 demo weapons focus on physical damage types. EX-MODs may add secondary effects in the full game; the demo showcases a limited mod pool.

How do sword skills differ per weapon?

Each weapon tree has unique SP skills with different range, invulnerability frames, and stagger values. Watch the Sword Skills Showcase guide for side-by-side video comparison.

Are Proto-Elucidator weapons stronger than demo drops?

They are tuned as strong early-game weapons for pre-order players but are outpaced by mid-game smithy tiers in the full release. See the Pre-Order Pack page for per-type stats.
